To deepen the mutual understanding and promote exchange of think tanks between China and Europe, the Sino-Euro Think Tank Communication Association (SETTCA) in collaboration with Arnold Bergstraesser Institute (ABI. Germany) and The Centre for Local Economic Strategies (CLES. UK) hosted First Sino-Euro Think Tank Symposium (13th of July, 2019--20th of July, 2019). The first session of the symposium was held in Freiburg at ABI, University of Freiburg, Germany, followed by the second session at CLES in Manchester, UK.

The First session was held at the ABI of the University of Freiburg, Germany. ABI Director Martin Adelmann gave a speech on Meeting the Challenges of Sustainable Develoment in Africa. Professor Zhengping Shen, dean of the Belt and Road Institute, Jiangsu Normal University, shared his studies by the title of On the Cognition of the Belt and Road Initiative and Practical Exploration in China. He studied the dimensions of the Belt and Road Initiative, focusing on sharing the Silk Road. The practice of Belt and Road Initiative in Jiangsu province, which is located at the intersection of the economic belt and the maritime Silk Road in 21st century. Russian scholar Iurii Kulintsev has expressed his views on the mode of integration and development of the Eurasian Economic Alliance and the Belt and Road Initiative. Canadian scholar Anran Luo shared her research on the circular economy cooperation between China and the EU. Thailand scholar Vorawan Wannalak made a speech on the opportunity of the Belt and Road Initiative for the development of ASEAN countries. Fabricio Rodriguez, ABI Latin American research expert, elaborated the influence of the Belt and Road Initiative and "China Latin America forum" in Latin America.
